Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich was founded in 1887 by William Grant, a former distillery manager with a vision to create the world's finest single malt whisky. On Christmas Day that year, William Grant and his seven sons began construction of the distillery in the Glenfiddich Valley near Dufftown in Speyside, Scotland. The name was inspired by the local landscape—Glenfiddich means 'Valley of the Deer' in Gaelic. From its earliest days, the distillery was built on principles of quality, innovation, and independence that continue to define the brand today.

For over 135 years, Glenfiddich has remained family-owned and operated, a rarity in the spirits industry. The distillery pioneered the concept of single malt whisky as a premium category, introducing the 12 Year Old expression in 1963—the first widely available single malt from a single distillery.
